Literature Text

Why am I here?
You ask yourself
As you descend
The spiral stairs
Eyes glassed over
Your face as cold
As you feel.
It's hard to stay warm

When everything
Appears dull
All efforts
Are wasted

When the usual
Nostalgic music
That once forced
You into chorus
Becomes nothing
More than annoyance
All music merely noise

When the bottle
Holds no answer,
Only more detachment.
When the coffee
Is always bitter and
You are forever
Hungry, yet you
Don't feel much
Like eating

When you are incapable
Of movement, no desire
Not for anything great
Nor any desire for something
Small. Certainly no reason
To move at all.
When there are no dreams
Nor ambition, nothing
To strive for or gain.
The world rushes by till
You find some hidden strength
To join them once more.

When your car is parked
And you stare blankly
At the garage wall.
All thought washed
Away, till you
Begin to question
If it's worth turning
Off the engine.
You ask yourself
Why am I even here?

But then you laugh,
And then you smile.
You tell jokes
And stories.
You eat and breathe
Dance and play.
But all the while
You ask yourself
Why am I still here?
First draft, it hasn't been edited yet. I submitted it rather early as i have heaps of assignments to do and i'll probably forget about it unless i put it up here to remind me, other wise it'll get lost in my computer files. Don't be two harsh this is the very very first copy written straight from my head. it pretty much explains itself in its poor form

I love this last stanza, the enjambment is very good and the imagery superb!
